Welcome to Failsworth School
Dear Parent/Carer
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is John Meagher and I am the new Headteacher of Failsworth School. I arrive looking forward to the challenges ahead and to working with all members of the Failsworth community both at school and in the wider local environment. I am delighted to be entrusted with this responsibility.
I was brought up in the Clayton and Droylsden area and live near enough to the school to know of its good reputation both in the local community and nationally through its status as a Sports College. Throughout my teaching career starting in Wythenshawe, Manchester, and more recently as Deputy Headteacher of Walkden High School in Salford, I have always enjoyed the opportunity to work with young people and to see them grow and develop into confident and successful adults ready to take an active and useful role in society. My mission at Failsworth is to lead the school to even greater success and, as I said in my interview, I see the school's number one aim as "preparing tomorrow's citizens today" to enable them to take up this challenge in a rapidly changing world. This will be achieved by demanding respect for all and providing an education that gives our students individual opportunities to prepare them for what lies ahead.
I look forward to meeting you in the near future and developing positive links with all aspects of the Failsworth community. Together, in partnership with high quality staff and opportunities on offer both inside and outside the curriculum at school, we can make that aim of "preparing tomorrow's citizens today" a successful reality.
John Meagher
