Connecting Classrooms
This is a British Council initiative which links our school with several
other UK schools and a series of schools in Jordan. We are linked with four Primary schools in Oldham (Hey with
Zion, Roundthorn, Firbank and Royton Hall). This UK cluster will work together to build links between ourselves. We
will work with a cluster of seven Jordanian schools. It aims to develop knowledge and understanding of cultures
different to our own, to generate greater tolerance, acceptance and friendship between young people. It also brings
schools together in the UK who might not otherwise have worked together to share their expertise and develop the
opportunities of the communities they serve.
The project lasts for three years, and planning has begun to build projects between the
different schools and countries. Some of the projects include – learning about each other through image and text,
joint art project, Failsworth hosting a sports festival for the Primary schools, ‘across the miles’ story writing,
working together to solve environmental issues.
