About Trust Schools
The aim of Trust schools is to use the experience, skills and expertise from other schools and professions as a
lever to raise standards in our own school, and from that in the community.
The partnerships entered into by Trust schools should be -
o
Non-threatening and for mutual gain o At an organisational level o Formalised so
that they can be more effective
The Trust -
- Holds charitable status
- Is a separate entity from the school's Governing body
- Is responsible for the advancement of education
- Is not involved in the strategic direction/leadership of the school
- Holds the land and assets in trust for the school
- Is made up of Trustees, who comprise the Trust Board representing all partners in the Trust
- Must promote equality of opportunities, racial harmony and community cohesion
The benefits of Trust status to the school holding that status -
- Using partnerships/expertise which contribute to the standards agenda
- Gives a model of collaboration which offers the most opportunities
- Allows the development and exchange of innovative ideas/experience
- Strengthens leadership and governance
- Strengthens community cohesion
- Should be addressing local and community needs
- Perpetuates good practice
- Can access supplies, paying economies of scale as the quantities needed are greater across a number of
schools
- Provides opportunities for investment into the school
